Privacy policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This policy explains how Merry Trail ("we") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit merrytrail.shop or buy from us. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Order details: your name, email, phone number, shipping and billing address, and what you bought.
- Payment details: payments are processed by our checkout provider, Whop. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
- Device and usage details: pages you view, your browser, device and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar tools.
How we use it
- To process, ship and support your order, including returns and refunds.
- To answer your messages.
- To send marketing emails if you signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand how our store is used and improve it, including measuring our ads.
- To prevent fraud and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We share only what each service needs to do its job: our checkout and payment provider (Whop), our warehouse and shipping carriers, our email provider, our website host, and advertising platforms such as Meta and TikTok that help us measure our ads. We never sell your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and China (where our warehouse ships from). We only use providers we reasonably believe protect personal information to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies
We use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep your cart, remember your preferences and measure our ads. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the store, like the cart, may not work without them.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons, which is usually 5 years, then delete them.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as under the GDPR or Californian privacy law. Email merrytrailshop@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handled your information, email us first and we will try to fix it. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
Our store is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
